Required materials:
We recommend a soft, regular lining fabric.
Sizes 34-50 | lining fabric | 1.30 m | 140 cm wide |
Cutting:
Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!
Cut the pattern pieces from your outer fabric. Lay the fabric right side up. The pattern pieces should all be placed with the lettering facing up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Transfer all notches from the pattern by making a 3mm cut with scissors or chalk. Marks define the positions of darts, pocket positions, and much more. Transfer these with chalk or pins.
You will need the following from the outer fabric and interlining:
- 1x receipt-back in the break
You will need from food:
- 1x back part in the fracture
- 2x front part opposite
- 2x upper sleeves opposite
- 2x undersleeves opposite
Sewing instructions:
Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!
To sew this lining you will need a sewing machine.
In addition to the description, the colored lines in the images show you where to sew a seam or glue something. When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances not specifically marked are 1 cm wide!
Have fun sewing!
For your information: In our video on inserting lining into jackets or coats, Ellen explains step by step how to proceed.
Place the two sleeve pieces on top of each other along the long side, the upper arm seam, right sides together and sew them together.
Then iron the seam allowance into the larger sleeve piece.
Next, sew the underarm seam of the sleeve, right sides together. It's important to leave an opening of about 15cm in the seam in one of the sleeves. You'll use this opening to turn the jacket inside out later.
After the sleeve, continue with the front piece. Here, you'll first sew in the darts (sizes 42-50). After accurately transferring the pattern and paying close attention to the markings, a simple, straight dart is sewn on the wrong side of the fabric, notch by notch, tapering nicely from the widest point to the tip (so the dart doesn't bunch up). Draw a line with tailor's chalk beforehand to ensure you don't over-stitch or under-stitch, and that the side seam ends nicely and straight.
To avoid having to tack the dart, sew the last centimeter with a very small stitch. Press the dart's contents upwards.
Next, we'll move on to the back piece. There's a lining pleat in the center back. Place the back piece, right sides together, along the fold and sew about 2cm down from the edge at a 2cm mark (see pattern for the width of the pleat), securing the end securely. Press this pleat in one direction all the way to the hem.
Now you can join the front pieces to the back. To do this, sew the side seams and the shoulder seam together, right sides together. Press both seams open.
Finally, just insert the sleeve, right sides together, into the torso, paying attention to the fitting notches – your jacket lining is ready.
