Sewing can be so easy, especially when it's just a single pattern piece, which is the case with our Ginger Cape . All it takes is a rectangle and a seam to sew the perfect companion for cool autumn days. Whether worn casually over a dress or stylishly with a shirt , your shoulders won't get cold.

The Cape Ginger was sewn from a gabardine fabric in this tutorial.
Required materials:
We recommend using a flowing wool or knit . Please note that this fabric is enough for two capes.

Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!
Cut the pattern pieces from your fabric . Place the selvedges parallel to the center so you can place them on the fold. All pattern pieces should be placed with the lettering facing up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Transfer all notches from the pattern by making a 3mm cut with scissors or chalk. Notch the seam allowance along the fold, as this is always the center.

To sew this cape you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to neaten the cut edges.
In addition to the description, the colored lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something needs to be glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern.
Have fun sewing!
First, you need to overlock all sides of the rectangle.
Then fold the rectangle in half again (at the fold) and sew the still “open” side (opening) from the end to the marked notch, so that only the opening for the head remains.
You now need to iron this seam apart.
Next, you can fold the seam allowance at the opening by 1cm…
… and stitch firmly.
Finally, all you have to do is fold over the two short ends and the one long side, which will later form the hem, by 1cm and stitch them down to create a clean edge.
Your GINGER is ready!
