Nähanleitung Rock Vivien

Sewing instructions Skirt Vivien

The wide swinging midi skirt Vivien dresses you up on cool days as well as in the sunny months. Styled accordingly, with or without tights, boots or sneakers, Vivien is a real all-round pattern. The pleats in the front part are topstitched a bit, so they fall softly to the swinging hem.

Length at center back = 81cm - 83cm, not including waistband

In this pattern, Vivien was sewn from a viscose blend.

Required material:

We recommend a polyester/viscose blend, a wool blend or a softly draping cotton fabric, anything with elastane.

Sizes 34-50

  • Outer fabric 2.00 m (140 cm wide)

    Sizes 34-50

    • Insert 0.25 m (90 cm wide)
    • Seam ripper 1x 25 cm long

In advance for you as information:

    cutting:

Cut out the pattern pieces from your outer fabric and interlining. Lay the fabric right side up. Lay the selvedges parallel to the center so that you can lay the front and back pieces in the fold. The pattern pieces should all be face up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvage of the fabric. Transfer all the notches from the pattern through a 3mm long incision with scissors or chalk and mark the ends of the darts. Pinch the seam allowance in the fold of the fabric because this is always a center. Markings define positions of dart ends, pocket positions, etc. Transfer these either with chalk or pins. It is best to first roughly cut all outer fabric parts that are completely covered with an interlining. After you have fixed the insert, cut it out exactly. There is also a video about gluing and fixing pattern pieces here.

    You need from fabric:

    • 1x front part in break
    • 1x center back part in break
    • 2x side part at the back in opposite directions

    also from insert:

    • 1x waistband
    • 2x position zipper left body side

    Sewing instructions:

To sew this skirt you need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, alternatively you can use the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to finish the raw edges.

In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something to be glued.

When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances that are not specially marked are 1 cm wide!

    Happy sewing!

Sew the back side pieces onto the center back piece, right sides together. Neaten the seam allowances together and then iron them to the center back.

Neaten the side seams and the hem of the back skirt all around.

Neaten the side seams and the hem of the front skirt all around.

Iron the hems of the front and back skirts according to the pattern.

Sew the folds according to the pattern, right sides together, up to the marking. Sew them diagonally, this guarantees you a better hold of the folds.

Lay the folds in the optic like a box fold and stitch the contents of the fold just outside the edge.

Sew the side seam of the right side of the body right sides together as a whole. Sew the side seam on the left side of the body, right sides together, up to the zipper position mark. Iron the seam allowances apart.

Stitch the hem of the skirt all the way around.

Iron the waistband left sides together in the fold.

Then neaten the inside edge of the waistband.

Stitch the outer edge of the waistband to the waist ring, right sides together, and carefully iron the seam allowances upwards.

Now position the zipper in the left side seam. Make sure that the zipper head ends in the center of the waistband fold. Sew in the invisible zipper with a matching zipper foot.

Fold the other half of the waistband outwards, right sides together, and stitch the section in place.

Now stitch the inner waistband firmly by stitching through in the shadow of the seam from the right and holding the inner waistband as well.

This is what your sewn-on inner waistband and zipper look like from the left.
