We love cuts that are quick to sew but always have a special detail. Queenie is just a cute little shirt, but the details make it stand out from the standard and will definitely enrich your wardrobe. The large heart-shaped neckline is gathered at the center front with a narrow and soft elastic band. As with our Qamar blouse, the upper sleeve seam can be gathered using a tunnel and ribbon.
Length at center back 54-58 cm
The Queenie in these instructions was sewn from a soft jersey.
Required material:
We recommend a soft jersey.
Size 34-40 | Outer fabric | 0.70m | 140cm wide |
Size 42-50 | Outer fabric | 0.90 m | 140cm wide |
Size 34-50 | Rubber band | 4-6cm | 0.5cm wide |
Cutting:
Cut the pattern pieces out of your fabric. Lay the selvedges parallel to the middle so that you can place the front and back pieces in the fold. The pattern pieces should all lie face up. Always align the thread arrow in the same direction on all pieces and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Transfer all the clips from the pattern through a 3mm long incision with scissors or chalk and mark the ends of the darts . Clip the seam allowance in the fabric fold because this is always a center.
What you need from fabric:
- 1x back part in the break
- 1x front part in the break
- 2x front sleeves in opposite directions
- 2x back sleeves in opposite directions
- 1x rubber band 0.5cm wide
- 4x strips
Sewing instructions:
To sew this shirt you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to neaten the cut edges.
Be sure to use a jersey needle and use a stretchy stitch, i.e. if you are sewing with a household sewing machine, you should use either a zigzag stitch or the three-part elastic stitch and then all seam allowances again with a zigzag stitch or another appropriate stitch Neaten so they don't fray. In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something needs to be glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern.
Have fun sewing!
First advice: stick a shaping tape on the neck hole (here: the blue lines). This means it cannot be borrowed. All information about form tape and how to use it can be found here .
From size 42 there is a bust dart. Sew this according to the pattern and iron it towards the armhole.
First, neaten the side, shoulder, neckline and hem edges of the front piece.
Use the same step on the back piece.
Finish the hem and dividing seam of the sleeve parts.
Then iron the hem of the sleeve parts upwards.
Place one front sleeve on top of the matching back sleeve and sew the two together along the curved edge. Leave the hem folded up. You then iron the seam allowance apart. Next you need to create the drawstrings. To do this, sew the seam allowance at 1cm from the seam.
Sew the underarm seam together and press the seam allowance apart.
Finally, sew the hem allowance onto the sleeve. Start behind the first drawstring and end in front of the other drawstring. Otherwise you would sew the drawstrings closed.
You need four ribbons for the tunnels. You make these as follows:
- Iron the ribbons in half.
- Then open it up again and iron the edges in the middle.
- Iron one end over and then fold the ribbon in half again.
- Now sew the open side together close to the edge.
Your QUEENIE is ready!
