shares
The Grace skirt is perfect for beginners. With its pointed yoke and asymmetrical hem, it can be sewn in just a few steps. If you like, you can match the waistband and yoke to the skirt 's color, creating a beautiful contrast and making it a wonderful summer skirt .
Length in the front center = 61 – 65 cm
Grace was sewn from a printed jersey in this pattern.

We recommend a soft jersey.

Cut out the pattern pieces from your outer fabric . Lay the fabric right side up. Place the selvedges parallel to the center so that you can place the waistband on the fold. The pattern pieces should all be laid with the writing facing up. Always align the thread take-up arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Transfer all notches from the pattern by making a 3mm long cut with scissors or chalk . Notch the seam allowance on the fold, as this is always the center . Markings define the positions of darts , pocket positions, and much more. Transfer these either with chalk or a pin .
You will need fabric:
- 1x bundle in the break
- 2x yoke front and back
- 2x skirt front and back part opposite
Sewing instructions:
Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!
To sew this skirt you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to neaten the cut edges.
Be sure to use a jersey needle and a stretch stitch. This means that if you're using a home sewing machine, you should use either a zigzag stitch or a three-part stretch stitch. Then, finish all seam allowances with a zigzag stitch or another similar stitch to prevent fraying. The colored lines in the images show you, in addition to the description, where a seam needs to be sewn or glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances not specifically marked are 1cm wide!
Have fun sewing!
Start with the special detail of the Grace skirt: the tapered yoke in the front and back. Sew the front and back yokes, right sides together, to the corresponding skirt pieces. Pay attention to the points at the center front and center back: For points, the seam allowances are trimmed with scissors. This prevents the point from becoming too thick when turned, and the seam allowances can be folded flat. It's especially important that the seam isn't cut. That's why we recommend sewing just before the point and away from it with a shorter stitch length. This guarantees a point that won't fray as quickly after trimming.
The seam allowances are neatened together and ironed down.
Next, sew the front and back pieces of the skirt together, right sides together, along the side seams. Make sure the yoke seams line up exactly. Neaten the seam allowances together and press them to the back.
Now you can take the waistband and sew it together along the narrow sides, right sides together. Press the seam allowances open, and then press the waistband in half, wrong sides together.
Place the waistband, right sides together, onto the skirt and sew it on. Make sure to leave a 3-4cm opening for the elastic.
The seam allowances are neatened together and ironed down. Here, too, you'll need to leave the opening for the elastic open and close it later.
Cut the elastic to your size, secure it with a safety pin, and pull it through the opening in the waistband. Sew the elastic over each other 2cm at both ends, push it back into the waistband, and then close the opening in the waistband.
The hem of your skirt will be finished and ironed according to the markings in the pattern.
Finally, the hem is stitched all around.
